HOSES FOR air conditioning

Hoses used in car air conditioners are made of various types of high-quality rubber and most often have a BARRIER type structure, where a thin layer of nylon (polyamide) in the inner layer of synthetic rubber reduces the permeability of freon. These hoses are manufactured in accordance with the SAE J2064 standard. Typical hoses for car air conditioners have internal diameters of 8, 10, 13, 16 mm and textile reinforcement. They are produced in the standard version (thick wall) or LW (thin wall). Hoses with a large internal diameter (22, 28 or 35 mm) have a conventional steel braid and are used in more complex air conditioning systems, e.g. in cargo and passenger transport. The working pressure of these hoses is up to 35 bar, the temperature is from -40 ° C to + 135 ° C. For industrial refrigeration units, you can use special thermoplastic hoses for freon (inner layer - polyamide).

Fittings for air conditioners

Special fittings made of aluminum or steel are designed for rubber hoses for car air conditioners:

  - twist,

  - pressed,

  - mounted using special clamps.

The connecting part of the fitting can be very specific in terms of the connection used and the complex shape of the bend of the fitting tube, only for this car model. A common combination is a tubular fitting with a seal (O-ring) and a nut with an inch UNF thread.

TOOLS FOR INSTALLATION OF FITTINGS

Installation of fittings for car air conditioners proceeds as follows:

Twist fittings - installation by twisting a fitting with a sleeve wound on a hose. This option does not require the use of special tools, but it is a rarely used system.

Press-on fittings - have a crimp sleeve integrated with the fitting. Crimping is carried out with special cams, which most often have 3 transverse thickenings. Crimping during service is carried out on small crimping devices for air conditioning, in mass production - on hydraulic presses, for example Finn Power, using special sets of crimping cams.
